Manchester United hope to make it two wins from two when they take on Brighton in their first away game of the new Premier League season on Saturday.

The Seagulls eased to a dominant 3-0 win over Everton in Fabian Hurzeler’s first game in charge last weekend with United sealing a narrow victory over Fulham at Old Trafford courtesy of new signing Joshua Zirkzee.

The Netherlands international came off the bench after an hour to replace Mason Mount with the game deadlocked at 0-0 but provided the clever finish to seal the win after 87 minutes.

Zirkzee was among those granted an extended summer break after his participation in Euro 2024 with Erik ten Hag explaining ahead of kick-off the forward was still working his way towards full fitness.

With Rasmus Hojlund still sidelined, Zirkzee will hope he has done enough to earn his place in the starting XI to lead United’s attack this weekend.

Alejandro Garnacho is another who is only recently back in Manchester, coming off the bench in the Community Shield against Manchester City and again against Fulham. The Argentina international didn’t look quite up to speed against the Cottagers, which could see Amad Diallo keep his place in the side.

With Luke Shaw still sidelined, Diogo Dalot is expected to continue at left-back with Noussair Mazraoui enjoying a fine debut on the right.

Harry Maguire meanwhile limped off that night and while Ten Hag later explained his withdrawal was a precautionary measure, it could open up room for Matthijs de Ligt to make his full debut against Brighton.

Manchester United 4-2-3-1 lineup

The Netherlands international came off the bench to play the final nine minutes against Fulham.

Predicted Man Utd XI to face Brighton

Onana, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot, Casemiro, Mainoo, Amad, Fernandes, Rashford, Zirkzee
