Jamie Carragher hit out at ‘unprofessional’ Dominik Szoboszlai during Liverpool’s impressive victory over Premier League rivals Manchester United.

In Arne Slot’s first game against United since replacing Jurgen Klopp as manager, Liverpool outclassed a sloppy United team, returning to Anfield with a routine 3-0 win.

Luis Diaz twice took advantage of mistakes from Casemiro to score first-half goals before the brilliant Mohamed Salah turned provider to goalscorer with yet another goal against the Red Devils.

Szoboszlai had a glorious chance to add a fourth for Liverpool in the closing stages but opted to take a couple of touches in the box with the goal at his mercy.

Despite Liverpool’s dominance, Carragher was fuming at the Hungarian midfielder and described it as ‘unprofessional’ and ‘ridiculous’.

‘What is he doing? Is he trying to be cocky?’ the Anfield legend said on Sky Sports commentary.

‘If United get one back the crowd gets up, we saw yesterday what happened to Everton.

‘That’s ridiculous that from Szoboszlai. That’s just ridiculous, it’s unprofessional.’

Ex-Manchester United defender Gary Neville also thought it was poor from Szoboszlai, adding: ‘He’s messing about there.

‘He should be absolutely rollocked by the rest of his team-mates for that. That’s a liberty.

‘It’s the sort of thing you’d do in training and get a telling off, never mind in a match at Old Trafford.’
