Lisandro Martinez has come under fire from Manchester United supporters after posing for a photo alongside Alexis Mac Allister in the wake of the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool.

Two goals from Luis Diaz and a second-half strike from Mohamed Salah secured Liverpool’s victory at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The result has left United with just three points from their opening three Premier League games, while Erik ten Hag is already under pressure following his side’s disjointed defensive display against Arne Slot’s men.

Martinez started alongside summer signing Matthijs de Ligt in the defeat at Old Trafford and has angered United supporters after he smiled in a photo alongside Liverpool midfielder Mac Allister just a day after the loss.

After Martinez posted the photo on his social media channels, United supporters made their unhappiness clear in their replies to the Argentine defender.

One United fan wrote: ‘He talks so much about passion and the shirt to not understand the basics. This pic is just so wrong right now.’

Another United supporter added: ‘So passionate and all that playing for the badge nonsense, at least take the pic with some other player.’

A third United fan wrote: ‘Mate, we just got battered by Liverpool on Sunday. Choose when to put out a pic of you and a Liverpool player wisely. This is not the time Licha.’

Another United supporter replied: ‘Meanwhile, It really hurts. You’ve hurt the fans twice in a few days. There are still Garnacho at the same club as you, why did it have to be Allister! Appreciate the fans who wholeheartedly support you & the club during this difficult time. No one can be trusted anymore. Disgusting!’

Martinez and Mac Allister have both been included in Argentina’s squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Colombia.
