Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique expects some players to leave the club before the transfer window closes with talks reportedly ongoing with Manchester United over Manuel Ugarte.

United have made four signings this summer in Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui but are still on the hunt for reinforcements in midfield.

Ugarte has emerged as a top target with the Uruguay international thought to be keen on a move to Manchester having already agreed personal terms.

PSG have demanded a fee of €70million (£58.8m), but United hope to drive down that price with the former Sporting Lisbon star seemingly not in the manager’s plans in the French capital.

Reports in the French media this week suggested Ugarte’s prospects at PSG looked bleak, overlooked by Enrique and left out of training matches by the head coach.

PSG have already signed Joao Neves this summer from Benfica, pushing Ugarte further down the midfield pecking order and while Enrique says he is satisfied with the make-up of his current squad, he believes there could be further departures in the coming weeks.

Asked if his squad is strong enough for the coming season, Enrique told a press conference on Thursday: ‘Yes, without a doubt, it is a numerically sufficient squad.

‘It is still possible that some players arrive, that some leave. It will be a challenge. But on the number of players, I am satisfied, happy.’

He continued: ‘The transfer window is very difficult for all teams, but especially for us because we already have a great team.

‘Last year, the number of recruits was high. But we didn’t recruit players for six months or a year. We tried to make sure that there was a project, an idea to work on.

‘I am very happy with the vast majority of the players. We have complete confidence, we will continue to develop our project.’

Amid talks over Ugarte, PSG are thought to have enquired into the availability of Jadon Sancho, who could still leave United despite him and Erik ten Hag burying the hatchet.

On the possibility of further incomings, Enrique said: ‘We will remain open until the last day to improve our squad. It’s hard to find players who can improve the team. But that’s how I see it.’
